Poem By Elcypher_Our dear country is ill

Because our dear country is ill

We sing her melodious anthems

And our palms are raised

Up to our chest to mumble pledges

As though that's not the moral

Behind all atrocities committed.

You need not ask a man

Where hides his pride

Before you read in his tongue

Lines of a country forgotten.

You see, father's lies flatter him

To believe patriotism

Is a common, good spirit.

Not until he saw death

Within the grasp of a fellow man

Unleashed cold blows

In the glowing face of his neighbor.

And,  some men assemble

With faiths in their faces,

And hasty prayers on their tongues,

But, who knows if God is ready to

Be blamed for human ordeal

Even when pledges were once made

With raised palms.
