Poem By Elcypher_Ni'woyi Ana

Ni'woyi Ana (This Time/Hour Yesterday)

The night rainfall drenched our childhood
Leaving us bare chested; shivering
For a shelter of adulthood
Then, the dawn never rose to rise.

Ni'woyi Ana
Our eyes were glows as of radiant stars
Bearing the rays of our ancestors
We never dreamed of a brighter day
Where inks would spill on our charcoal flesh

Ni'woyi Ana
Grandpa told us tales of  tortoise and eagle
Both creatures had wishes to be the other
Tortoise would fly to meet god in heavens
And, eagle would crawl to govern earth

Ni'woyi Ana
The land knew us to be innocent
Grandma cherished and caressed us while asleep
Neighbours dined and wined with us
This time yesterday, we never thought of this day.
