Meet me where Mississippi crossed
As though the misty clouds were tossed
Let gentle words provoke our rage
To brace each other like a sage

If friendship can lead us the source
O, why seek us another course
Let bravery be locked in the cage

Lo! When darkness summons our soul
To violence; let's give peace our whole
For, cruelty can't drive us off stage
To brace each other like a sage.

Your bows can slay, my swords can kill
Your hate won't say my words can thrill
Let our voice be drawn to the page
